Reliant Plan Offerings
Reliant offers everything from basic fixed-rate plans to complex time-of-use and smart-home bundled plans. They often include perks like free Google Nest thermostats or backup power solutions.
While these perks are attractive, it is crucial to calculate the true per-kWh cost using the EFL to ensure you aren't overpaying for the 'free' hardware.
The Provider of Last Resort
If you fail to choose an electricity provider when moving into a new home in Houston, you will automatically be assigned to Reliant Energy as the POLR.
POLR rates are typically much higher than competitive market rates. Always proactively shop for a plan before your move-in date to avoid these default rates.
TDU Delivery Charges
No matter which retail provider you choose, you must pay regulated delivery charges to your local utility. These fees cover grid maintenance and storm restoration.
