Fixed-Rate Electricity Plans in Texas
A fixed-rate electricity plan locks in your price per kilowatt-hour for the duration of your contract. In the volatile Texas energy market, a fixed-rate plan is your best defense against unexpected bill spikes.

How Fixed-Rate Plans Work
With a fixed-rate plan, your energy charge remains exactly the same for your entire contract term (typically 12, 24, or 36 months).
Note that while your energy rate is fixed, the CenterPoint delivery charges can still fluctuate slightly when the PUCT updates them every March and September.
Why We Recommend Fixed Rates
Texas summers push the ERCOT grid to its limits, causing wholesale electricity prices to skyrocket. If you are on a variable rate, those costs are passed directly to you.
A fixed-rate plan acts as an insurance policy. Even if wholesale prices surge, your rate is protected. We strongly recommend 12-month fixed plans for almost all Harris County residents.
TDU Delivery Charges
No matter which retail provider you choose, you must pay regulated delivery charges to your local utility. These fees cover grid maintenance and storm restoration.
Need Help?
If you experience a power outage, contact your local TDU directly. Retail providers cannot restore power.
