When you buy a green energy plan, the electricity flowing into your home still comes from the standard ERCOT grid (a mix of gas, coal, wind, and nuclear).
However, your provider purchases Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) equal to your exact usage, ensuring that clean energy is added to the grid on your behalf.
Are Green Plans More Expensive?
