Understanding Bill Credit Electricity Plans
Bill credit plans advertise incredibly low rates, but they come with a catch: you only get the low rate if your energy usage falls within a very specific, narrow window.

The Bill Credit Trap Explained
A typical bill credit plan might offer a $100 credit if you use at least 1,000 kWh. If you use 999 kWh, you get no credit, and your bill could be $100 higher than expected.
Conversely, some plans remove the credit if you go over 2,000 kWh, penalizing you during the hottest summer months when your AC is running constantly.
Who Should Use Bill Credit Plans?
These plans are only suitable for households with highly predictable, consistent energy usage year-round.
If you live in a standard single-family home where usage fluctuates from 800 kWh in the spring to 2,500 kWh in the summer, a bill credit plan is highly risky. Always check the EFL for the rates at all three usage tiers.
TDU Delivery Charges
No matter which retail provider you choose, you must pay regulated delivery charges to your local utility. These fees cover grid maintenance and storm restoration.
Need Help?
If you experience a power outage, contact your local TDU directly. Retail providers cannot restore power.
